Question:

Why is the side the steering wheel is on different in the United States than England MORE?

Answer:

Teamsters in France & the United States used wagons pulled by horses. These wagons had no driver's seat; the driver sat on the left rear horse. He wanted everybody to pass on the left so he could make sure he kept clear of oncoming wagon's wheels.
