Question:

Why do they put real gold flakes in Goldschlager?

Answer:

Goldschläger is a clear liqueur w/ thin, yet visible flakes of gold leaf floating in it. The actual amount of gold is extremely small and serves as a sort of novelty: there is currently less than 1/10 gram of gold flakes in a bottle of Goldschläger.
