Weekend commentary: Circle gets the square
The area of a circle = pi (r squared). But pi is not part of the formula for the area of a rectangle, which is length x width. In figuring the area of a circle, there is instead one radius. Just multiplying the radius by itself would not compute it accurately.
How to find the circumference of a circle and more
For example, this: circumference = 3.1416 * (radius * 2); is mathematically sound under the distributive property, but initially it looks like the area formula area = Pi * r^2 ... Enter the x and y coordinates of the center of the circle: "; cin >> x1 ...
Mathematics Upstarts Look to Replace Pi With New Circle Constant
As supporting evidence Dr. Hartl points to many formulas, like the Gaussian distribution, Fourier Transform, and, of course, the circumference formula ... Area_circle= πr 2 than Area_circle = τr 2 /2. And that, one could suppose, is cause enough for some ...
Area of a Polygon
for instance if they select "circle" it asks "what is the center point's X coordinate"... "what is the Y coordinate"... "what is the radius ... the area that is output is either double the actual or half of the actual. I am trying to use the formula ...
Circumference of Saturn
Want to make the calculation for yourself? Well, the formula for calculating the circumference of a circle is 2 x pi x r, where R is the radius of the circle. The equatorial radius of Saturn is 60,268 km, so you can do the math yourself. Of course ...
